Remote Learning

We have reviewed both the Remote Learning Policy and Learning Provision Document to reflect the changes we have made to our remote education. In the event that your child has to self-isolate or there is a further partial closure, we want to effectively support you and help your child continue their learning journey at home. Below we have some useful links and information that will support you when guiding your child’s learning.

Please also see our E-Safety section to help keep everyone safe when working online.

Class Dojo / Tapestry:

During the school closure you can use the messaging facility on Class Dojo to contact your child’s class teacher with any questions or concerns. Likewise the class teacher will use this platform to share work and information specific to their class or individual children during this time. There is a Class Dojo App you can download which will notify you when you have a new message. You should have a login for Class Dojo but if you have any difficulties with this then please contact the school office. For our youngest children we will continue to use Tapestry to communicate with parents and for parents to share their own observations of children’s remote learning and contact the F2 staff.

Twitter:

Also please remember to check our Twitter feed @irbyprischool either on Twitter or on our website homepage, as we will be sharing useful information and activity ideas on there. Also please tweet us with photos and messages of what you have been doing. We love to hear from you!

School Online Learning Platforms:

Below are links to the online learning platforms we regularly use in school. Your child should have a username and password to login and access the tasks assigned.

Learning by Questions:

Learning by Questions is an online platform that most children will have used in school to support their Maths, English and Science work. Your child does not require a username and password to access LBQ but will need an access code, which will be sent to you by your child’s class teacher. This code will have an end time when it will expire, it will only last for that day so it is important to prioritise these tasks when they are sent through.

Phonics:

Phonics Bug is an online platform to support our early readers with their phonics linked to reading. If this is suitable for your child they will have been provided with a username and password and also a school code that they will use to log in. Their teacher will have allocated them a set of texts that matched their phonic knowledge, when your child comes to the end of the allocated set please message your child’s teacher on Class Dojo so they can allocate the next set of books. There are more details and instructions for using Phonics Bug on our English Curriculum page.

Reading:

If we could recommend one thing to do with your child each day during school closure it would be to read. This will include both them reading to you and you reading to them. It is essential to all aspects of their learning. Below are some links to online reading that your child can access. Also don’t forget Serial Mash on Purple Mash for reading resources.
