Our charity and fundraising

At Irby Primary School we try to encourage our children to think about others through our charity and fundraising work. We try to ensure a balance of local, national and international charities and also allow the children the opportunity to fund raise for their school.

Children in Need

Children in Need

To raise awareness of Children in Need and encourage donations to this worthwhile cause, the children came to school in their own clothes and we were very lucky to get a visit from Pudsey himself!

Macmillian Coffee Morning

We annually hold Macmillian coffee mornings in September. We ask for donations of cakes to raise money towards the important work Macmillian does. We invite our new Foundation Two parents to attend alongside their children as a chance for parents new to the school to meet and develop friendships.

Harvest Foodbank

Each year as part of our harvest celebrations we choose a different charity to support. This year we chose to help the local foodbank by collecting food for them to distribute in the local area. Four of our Year Six children took the food to the foodbank and had a tour of the facilities. They shared what they had found out with the whole school during our harvest assembly.

Poppies

Each year the Year Six children take responsibility for selling poppies and poppy themed items to raise funds for the British Legion as part of annual remembrance commemorations. The children throughout the school enjoy supporting this cause through the purchasing of these items and it raises awareness of the meaning behind wearing a poppy.

Christmas Jumper Day

We all love to wear our Christmas jumpers and this year we wore them to school to raise money for the Christmas lights to be displayed in our village. We raised £163.10 and the lights looked fantastic!

Wirral Primary schools have now raised £4807 for the hospice with another £1000 to be added to that in gift aid. Thank you all for supporting.

Shoe Box Appeal

We supported the Rotary Shoebox Scheme to send toys, toiletries and books to children and their families in Eastern European countries. We filled over 100 boxes with the generous donations from our children and families.

Drip Project

We raised funds to provide families in Uganda with water harvesters. These enable the families to grow crops, which allows them to feed their family and make money from selling any excess crops. We were delighted to receive photographs and letters from the families who had benefited from this fundraising.
